Description

We are currently looking for a surgeon to fill one-year positon with the potential for extension in our well-established equine veterinary hospital in the UAE.

We are looking for a veterinarian interested in emergency surgery to join our after-hours emergency surgery team.

Sharjah Equine Hospital is a 12-veterinarian full service, primary care, referral and emergency facility capable of providing a variety of services. We have an in-house laboratory, MRI, CT, a fully staffed ICU and experienced surgical team, in a supportive atmosphere. We offer a strong team-work culture with visiting students, interns, residents and veterinary assistants. Our facility has 2 treatments rooms, two surgical suites with two assisted recovery areas. We have 11 ICU stalls, 40 hospital stalls and 4 isolation stalls.

Our Hospital sees approximately 250 surgeries per year, with a very diverse caseload of orthopedic, respiratory, gastro-intestinal and urogenital cases that are seen in a wide population of horses, including racing/endurance Arabs, Thoroughbreds, and Warmbloods.

Requirements

Candidates should be board-certified, or surgery residency trained in large animal surgery. The candidate will be integrated in the “surgical emergency rotation” with two other surgeons to help covering the emergency hours [day-time, night-time, weekends, holidays].

Applicants should be proficient in sport medicine/lameness as well as all aspects of equine surgery, but gastro-intestinal, orthopedic and urogenital procedures comprise the bulk of the emergency caseload.

Salary will be commensurate with experience. Additionally, we offer other benefits including health insurance, housing, car/gas, and phone allowance.
