Job Title: ECVS resident in small animal surgery

Salary: £38,000 (in year one)

Location: DWR Newmarket / Cambridge

Job Type: 3 year fixed contract

Hours: Full time 

Your role and responsibilities

DWR is one of the largest state-of-the-art, multi-disciplinary, small animal specialist referral hospitals in Europe.  The hospital is based near Cambridge, UK and is the largest training hospital in the country with residency programmes running in many disciplines including services in soft tissue surgery, orthopaedics, internal medicine, oncology, cardiology, ophthalmology, diagnostic imaging, neurology, ECC, anaesthesia, dermatology, dentistry, physiotherapy and clinical pathology.

With a large, varied and exciting surgical caseload, we are seeking a further colleague to join our ECVS Residency-training programme from June 2025. The successful candidate will work alongside our existing surgery residents and receive direct training and supervision from our four experienced RCVS/ECVS Recognised Specialists in Small Animal Surgery and the clinical Fellows team.  The Residency programme will be for a period of 3 to 4 years depending on experience (reviewed after 6 months and then annually) and is formally approved by the European College of Veterinary Surgery (ECVS).

The successful applicant will be compassionate and caring and be able to communicate to an excellent standard with colleagues, clients and referring veterinarians. 

Applicants must be either a Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons or hold a veterinary degree qualifying them for membership. The successful applicant will have at least 1 years’ relevant post graduate veterinary clinical experience, have completed a Rotating Internship programme and hold a UK valid current driving licence as well as being eligible to work in the UK.
