AURA VETERINARY is seeking applications for its Rotating internship programme

We are a purpose-built specialist referral hospital in Guildford, Surrey dedicated to expert care, innovative clinical decision-making and compassionate communication. The facilities are state-of-the-art and include four operating theatres, cell salvage unit, a 160-slice CT scanner, C-arm fluoroscopy, an interventional radiology suite, minimally-invasive surgical equipment, cystoscopy, endoscopy, bronchoscopy, dedicated chemotherapy preparation and administration rooms, ultrasonography, digital radiography and a full in-house laboratory.

Due to the continued growth of the hospital, applications are invited from veterinary surgeons with relevant postgraduate experience for the position of:

Rotating Internship

This 12-month post will provide exposure and training in surgical oncology, medical oncology, soft tissue surgery, anaesthesia, internal medicine and diagnostic imaging. You will be required to assist with consultations, client communication, diagnostic procedures and surgical procedures/interventions alongside daily care of patients.

The successful candidates will split duties between routine/emergency surgeries, critical patient care, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine and OOH night/weekend duties (time off in lieu).

General

The successful candidates must be a graduated Veterinary Surgeon and preferably have completed a 12-month rotating internship or at least two years of general small animal practice (consideration will be given to exceptional new graduates). The post would be suitable for someone considering pursuing a Residency position.

Active involvement with clinical research is encouraged and weekly seminars augment clinical learning.

You will work with a team of specialists (including Diplomates of ACVS / ECVS / ECVIM / ACVIM/ECVDI), ECVS surgical residents, radiographers, clinical research assistants, nurses and Veterinary Care Assistants.

In addition you should be care driven, have excellent communication skills, be organised and be able to operate in a 24/7 team environment. Royal College of Veterinary Surgeon’s (RCVS) Registration MUST be in place prior to making an application.

Located in Guildford on the Surrey Research Park, AURA is ideally located adjacent to the University of Surrey School of Veterinary Medicine, the St. Luke’s Cancer Centre, and The Royal Surrey Hospital. It is well served by both Gatwick and Heathrow airports and is within 30 minutes of central London via train.
